SHISHUKUNJ
Dear Parents,
With all the due respect to the parents who says SHISHUKUNJ is the best choice & they are not with the parents agitating aginst the Fee Hike . . . .
We all have taken pains to admit our kids in to shishukunj & we are very well aware of the fact that a bad name to school can spoil our kids future also.
But it doesn't mean that we should accept dictatorship behaviour by school body.
Due to this 'Jaane Do' attitude we have lost many things in this city . . .
It's just that we are expressing our thoughts & feelings against the injustice & for that we want to join hands to build a healthy platform for future.
We ourselves are matured & educated enough to understand what's wrong & what's right . . . . . .
We all did our schooling from city or a town school & each of us know What is Annual Function or Sports Day or a Cultural Meet & what should be served in Breakfast/Meals, what a School Bus is, Sibling admission & fees & Many More . . . . ? ?
It's not only FEES issue but many such small issues stands neglected inspite of paying heavy fees, these issues must be highlighted to the management to help our child grow better & that's why we chose the most admirable school 'SHISHUKUNJ'.
Somewhere in the race to earn money School's management is already compromising on all such issues for the last 2 years & this behaviour of parents is not an overnite change, but a gradual anger which slowly piled up over the period of time.
Fees hike was just a catalyst which helped all such parents to get under one roof.
We refer to recent circular for fee towards next academic year. The steep fee hike is a cause of concern to us and we would like to discuss the same with you on the following important fact:
Validation of the Fee hike:-
The current increment in the school fees is in the range of 20-25%, which is not only step but seems unreasonable. We would like to have a fair justification of the compelling reasons for such a steep hike given the fact:
· The effective inflation rate for the current year is in the range of 7-7.5% and the expected inflation for the next year is 6%
· The current economic condition are not very encouraging and there is no hope for any increment in salaries this year, bonus is not even been discussed. Moreover a salary cut is also a very likely possibility across the spectrum.
Fees Increment Over past few years
Over a period of 2006-07 to 2008-09 (3 year period) the aggregate fee hike has been 25% as against 25% fee hike over just one year period (for 2009-10). In other words the fee hike rate is 3 times more than the rate applicable in past 3 years. In retrospect the fee has been doubled in just 4 years.
Expansion and Facilities Enhancement
While we understand that the Shishukunj has been augmenting the facilities and amenities year over year and the same is appreciated very much, the cost of the same should not be passed fully to the students in just one year (if that is one of the reasons for such a steep hike). If there is a need it should be amortized over a longer period as the assets built against the same have a long lifespan.
A Sneak Preview in the future
Shishukunj is undoubtedly the most aspired school in the town and we would love to see our kids pass out from this institute. However the recent hike in fee has compelled us to stop and give some thought to plan the fee that we may have to fork out in years to come. We would like to request you to kindly prepare a road map of the proposed fee hike over next 5 years so that we can assess our individual capabilities and take a decision at an appropriate time, It would certainly be unfortunate if an individual has to decide otherwise at a stage which are very important years for a students' career.
We request you to kindly share with us your viewpoints on the subject matter.
WE REQUEST AGAIN TO ASSEMBLE AT SHISHUKUNJ PARKING AT NIPANIA AT 10 AM ON SUNDAY.
With best regards,

Recent Fee Hike
Dear Parents,
I want to share my views on the recent fee hike announced by the school. Today some of us were present at the school to voice our concern on this matter but somehow the discussions took a direction that was not intended. While it was a common opinion that parents in general are facing the crunch of the global financial slow down yet it was almost a unanimous consent that there was no objection if the fee hike was 5 % of the last year's fee. Becuase the discussions took many unwanted twists and turns, this basic issue became confused and diluted.
Here is the basic issue once again - "School has increased the fee between 20% - 30% which has suddenly put a lot of burden on our pockets"
During the discussions Mr Davey brought out that if we look at the increase over the past 5 years it will amount to 10% approx per year.
While this is absolutely true yet my point here is that if the school did not increase the fee in past, it is unjustified to make up for it by suddenly giving a 20% - 30% hike in one particular year. When the fee was not increased during a certain year, we appreciated the management for their honesty but by trying to makeup for it now, it seems we did it too soon. What I would like to put across are the following suggestions:
1. The increases should not exceed 5 % of last year's fee.
2. It would help if management can give a roadmap of future hikes so that we can plan to withdraw children in time.
3. The current notice of depositing the first installment by Feb 28, 2009 is too short and management should extend this to March 31, 2009.
4. There should be an option of monthly payment as well since it becomes difficult sometimes to make lumpsum payment quarterly, especially if a parent has more than 1 child studying.
5. Sibling discount is a standard practice and should be provided by the school.
Shishukunj is doing a great job in the academic development of our children and we certainly applaud the management for their efforts. I am sure they would keep up to our expectations in this matter as well.
